What type of people typically use a hypnotherapist.

Hypnosis is a completely safe and natural phenomena one that we all experience each and every day. Have you ever been so engrossed in a film or good book to such an extent that you lose track of everything else that is happening around you? Or perhaps you have undertaken a journey and arrived at your destination without remembering parts of the trip or passing through familiar towns or villages? I had a very dear friend who used to go into deep trance by staring at the coals on an open fire and allowing his imagination to dream up shapes and faces in the burning embers.
These are all forms of everyday hypnosis. It can be described as a profound state of physical and mental relaxation where concentration is focussed allowing access to the vast resources of the subconscious mind. Although hypnosis off itself is not a therapy, this very pleasant and relaxed state with access to our vast storehouse of thoughts, memories and emotions in our subconscious mind facilitates therapy where positive change can be carried out and harmful patterns of behaviour can be altered.

It is important that you understand that a person in hypnosis is fully aware of their surroundings and in full control at all times. There is absolutely no way that you are in the control of the Hypnotist and nothing will happen in trance without your full understanding and approval. You cannot be made to do anything that you yourself do not wish to do. For the vast majority of people hypnosis is simply a very relaxed, pleasurable and comfortable sensation.
