Can everybody be hypnotised ?
Virtually anyone can be hypnotised, provided they want to be. Please remember, I don't put you into a trance ! Your own Unconscious Mind simply takes you there in a very pleasant, relaxed way.

Will I be asleep ?
No, you will not be asleep. You will feel deeply, deeply relaxed but be aware of what is happening around you.

Will I lose control ?
No, you will remain in control at all times. In hypnosis nobody can make you do anything that you don't want to do.

Are There any hidden dangers with hypnosis ?
Absolutely none. Hypnosis is completely safe and harmless. There are no drugs involved and unlike many medications there are no harmful side affects.

Will I blurt out all of my hidden secrets ?
You will only tell me what is pertinent to the therapy. Remember you are in control and will only tell me what is relevant and what you want to tell me.

Can I be influenced to do anything against my will ?
No. If you were asked to do something against your will or nature whilst in trance you would simply ignore the suggestion or decide yourself to come out of hypnosis.

How many visits will I need ?
Simpler problems requiring only Suggestion Therapy such as nail biting, pre-exam nerves and most cases of smoking and weight loss usually require between one and three sessions. More deep rooted psychosomatic problems which indicate Analytical Therapy can need between six or ten sessions.

How soon can I expect results ?
For most clients the healing process starts immediately, during the session itself. This healing process continues afterwards at a rate that your subconscious mind knows is appropriate for you . Of course a lot depends on both the individual and the condition being healed. For others, it can take a number of days, weeks or months.

What sort of things might influence my chance of success ?
The good news is that it does work for the vast majority of my clients. However there are certain important factors which need to be present.

You must be physically comfortable during the session. To this end I have taken every precaution to ensure that you feel at ease and are totally relaxed. However it is important that you talk to me and please feel free to ask for anything which might help us in our work.

Next it is critically important that you have decided to be serious about your problem and the changes that are required for a satisfactory outcome. Some people come to me at the behest of a spouse, partner, or friend without having a deep personal desire to change! In these cases I politely explain the situation and decline to work with that person. Others believe that I have a magic wand and can wave away their problems. This could not be further from the truth, therapy is a collaborative effort and success can only come about through the positive attitude of the client and Sean Mc Gee working together.

Finally there is a significant amount of trust required. I will do all in my power to earn your trust but you must be willing to trust your own Unconscious Mind. Furthermore complete honesty is vital. You have to be honest with yourself and remember there can be no holding back or keeping secrets during our sessions

How long does a hypnotherapy session last ?
Usually 1½ hours.

How long will treatment last ?
The beauty of hypnotherapy is that it produces results very quickly. Hypnotherapy is not a magic cure-all and some issues will take longer to work on than others but as an ethical hypnotherapist registered with The General Hypnotherapy Register I will aim for a resolution of your particular issue as quickly as is professionally possible. As a rule of thumb Suggestion Therapy usually requires between one and three sessions with perhaps a booster session later on. More deep rooted psychosomatic problems require Analytical Therapy which can need between five to ten sessions.

Can hypnotherapy be used with children ?
Yes, children make excellent use of hypnotherapy because of their wonderful ability to use their Imaginations. Hypnotherapy can be used with children for bedwetting, nail biting, fears and phobias among other conditions.

What sort of people typically use a hypnotherapist
?
People from all walks of life come to my therapy room. There is no “typical” client. From Business Executives, Students, Children to Sportspeople, Husbands, Wives, to your very own next door neighbour perhaps. Everyone is welcome. The only common denominator is a desire to make positive change and live life more fully.

How might I feel on emerging from trance ?
Trance is a highly personal phenomenon. Some people emerge feeling pleasantly tired while others feel highly energised and ready to run a marathon. However, all leave with a burning desire to effect change and regard the experience in a very positive light.
